Acne has nothing to do with cleanliness. You can wash your face several times a day and still have acne. This is because washing your face removes the oils from the surface of the skin, but not from within the plugged ducts. It is possible to suffer from acne and dry skin at the same time.

To avoid having dry skin, use a mild soap such as Neutrogena or Dove Unscented. Rub lightly into your skin using your fingertips and lukewarm water. Don’t use a washcloth or anything that might irritate your skin.

Start using an over-the-counter product with the lowest concentration of benzyl peroxide, and then work your way up to higher concentrations. This is especially important if you have sensitive skin, since a higher concentration of benzyl peroxide may irritate your skin. Use it once or twice a day, and apply a moisturizer if necessary.

The plug at the top of the pimple pore is like a balloon. If you pop it, the sebum, bacteria and skin cells below the surface may leak into the surrounding tissue and cause inflammation.
